Everything, in fact, to make sure that your Krabooz experience is as amazing as it can possibly be.

So, if you’re ready, let’s dive in and get acquainted with your clawsome new housemates.

KRABOOZ – MEET THE TRIBEZ:

Although your hermit crabs may look very similar, you should know they are actually very different.

In fact, back on their island of Raktar they are divided into four tribes and have very particular skills and personalities.

The K-HUD tribe are the fun-lovin’ party Krabooz who like to spend their days surfing and dancing on the beach.

The SOMAGO are the carers of the community, helping the sick and injured and coming up with remedies. They are also experts on food and know where to find all the yummy treats.

The CHA CHA are the entertainers of the group. They love nothing more than singing and dancing and making costumes for parties.

The COOMARA are the enforcers. The tough guys who keep order and fight off enemies like the evil Harrigan Smat.

Each tribe is distinctly different, yet they all live together in clawfect harmony. A lesson to us all!

So, how can you tell one Krabooz from another? Well, simple. By their shells.

Each tribe has its own distinctive colour shells.

Somago = pink

Coomara = yellow

Cha Cha = purple

K-Huds = blue

You can buy these tribal shells from our site.

To further differentiate your crabs, you can decorate their habitats with our cool ornaments and decorations. These are painted in tribal colours so you can create a habitat that is 100% dedicated to one tribe, or mix it up with some cool combos.

KARING FOR YOUR KRABOOZ:

Krabooz are super-easy to look after. But, to make sure they are as comfortable as possible, here are a few steps you should follow in setting up in their new homes.

Remember, the object is to make their habitat as close as possible to the tropical environments they enjoy back home on the beaches of Raktar.

  1. Settling in:

When you first bring your Krabooz home, give them a quick bath in dechlorinated water and let them relax and settle in. They might bury themselves in the sand for a few days, but don’t worry, this is completely normal.

  1. Bedding:

Krabooz appreciate a comfy bed just like you do.

And that’s why we recommend you use our specially prepared zuper zands.

Zuper Zands is made from 50% calcium and 50% coco fibre. Exactly like the beaches of Raktor. So, your crabs will feel right at home.

Place ALL the Zuper Zandz into the bottom of the liferingz habitat. Brown stuff goes in one half, and sandy stuff in the other.

Wash the sand before use and layer it to a depth of 3-4 cm deeper than the largest hermit crab. This allows them plenty of room for burrowing.

In the cooler winter months, add 2-4cm extra Zuper Zands so they can keep themselves snuggly during the molting season.

  1. Food:

Krabooz are hungry little critturs, (just like you) and are always up for a meal. (Just like you.)
For their main food, we recommend Munchiez Mix. This contains ingredients they find crabsolutely irresistible like dried fish, shrimp, seaweed, dried fruit and veggies.

You can also give them fresh fruit, veggies and even popcorn or crumpets. They love a bit of variety, so get creative.

  1. Water:

Krabooz get thirsty. Maybe cause they spend all their time soaking in the salt poolz. And when they do, it’s important that they have fresh dechlorinated or bottled water at hand claw to drink.

  1. The salt poolz:

Back home on Raktar, Krabooz are always surfing and swimming in the water.

And beclawse we know how important the sea is to them, we’ve created these cool poolz in tribal colours.

Just fill the salt pool with dechlorinated water and sprinkle in about 5 grains of the saltz. Then sit back and watch as your hermie gets its salt on.

  1. Climbing:

Krabooz love to climb and explore their surroundings.

So, place sticks in their habitat for them to climb on or splash out on a Krabooz treez. The clawfect climbing ornament for your crab to go adventuring.

  1. Humidity:

You’ve heard of chilly crab, right? Well, if their habitat drops to less than 22 degrees, your crabs will start feeling a bit nippy.

And that’s when you need to put a heat mat under the flooring to regulate the humidity.

It is important that your crab crib has a relative humidity of anywhere from 50% to 80%. (It can vary with the seasons.)

  1. Exercise:

Your Krabooz are surprisingly crabthletic and need regular exercise. So, remember to take them out of their enclosure and let them walk for ten minutes a day.

Just make sure there are no other animals around and that surfaces have not been sprayed with household chemicals.

  1. Spare Shellz

Your Krabooz will grow a few millimetres each year, so make sure you shell out on a couple of larger shells so they can move into bigger premises when the time comes.

These spare shells come in all different tribal colours and are available in different sizes.

  1. Sea Sponges:

Krabooz love a good sponge bath. So, make sure you place one of sea sponges in their salt poolz for them to play with.

  1. Mist spray:

One of the things Krabooz mist most is the moist, humid air of Raktar. So, make sure you spray a water mister every three days in their enclosure.

  1. Crab zzz:

After a hard day’s splashing, burrowing and exploring, your Krabooz need a good kip.

And that’s why we’ve made these cool cubby huts in tribal colours. They fit two crabs comfortably and make them feel safe while they catch some shuteye.

  1. Molting:

Your Krabooz will molt and shed their own skin/shell as they get bigger.

This is perfectly normal, so don’t be alarmed if you see what looks like an empty hermit crab skin.

Some of the signs to look for are if your crab has been buried in the sand for a long time, or if they seem lethargic or have less antenna activity.

During this time, it is vital that you leave them alone and do not touch them.

  1. Friendz:

Despite the name hermit crabs, Krabooz are actually pretty social and enjoy living in groups.

So please don’t be shellfish. Make sure you have a few other friends for them to play with.

Get my drift:

If you go to the beach and find some decaying driftwood, bring it home and put it in their enclosure. They love to climb on it, play with it and even chew it.

  1. Never tear us apart:

Coming out of your shell is a good thing for humans, but not for hermit crabs. So don’t try and pull them out of their shells, as you could literally tear them apart.

  1. Calci-yum treats:

You want to make sure you treat your Krabooz right. So, give ‘em plenty of calcium treats like cuttlefish, eggshells or oyster shells to strengthen their exoskeletons.
